The pilot launch at the PLURex car wash in Münchenbuchsee has been a success. For the first time, a self-service car wash accepts cashless payments without any wash tokens and is controlled directly via the payment terminal. This is made possible by a new terminal software extension and the newly developed Pulse hardware from Abrantix AG, created in close collaboration with OKpro GmbH. Rogrotech is providing its car wash in Münchenbuchsee for the pilot operation.
One Terminal Controls the Entire Car Wash
Until now, payment at self-service car washes has mostly run through a separate cash desk or through wash tokens that had to be operated in addition to the car wash itself. With Pulse, Abrantix connects the payment terminal directly to PLURex 2.0, the car wash payment solution from OKpro GmbH. As OKpro GmbH's technology partner, Abrantix is the manufacturer and distributor of the Pulse hardware. Customers pay contactless with a card or mobile payment at the terminal, and the car wash starts immediately afterwards, with no detour via coins or tokens.
For the operator, this means a seamless, single-source system: payment and car wash control are linked and can be managed centrally. Through the Acceptance Hub in Corion from Abrantix, the operator keeps an overview of their devices at all times, can configure them, and can monitor transactions in real time.
A key goal of the pilot was to show that modern card payment can also be implemented on existing car washes, without fundamentally changing the existing car wash control system. That is exactly what was achieved in Münchenbuchsee. The existing car wash was connected, the payment was switched on, and contactless payment was possible right away.
With Pulse, the car wash operator can also configure the interaction between the payment terminal and PLURex 2.0 themselves, and do so flexibly. This considerably reduces the effort for individual adjustments and makes the solution attractive for other sites that want to switch to modern payment options without major technical intervention.
The successful pilot launch is the result of close collaboration between OKpro GmbH and Abrantix. With PLURex 2.0, OKpro GmbH contributes the car wash payment solution and the industry expertise of car wash operators. Abrantix is OKpro GmbH's technology partner for PLURex and provides the technical foundation for modern payment acceptance with its Android-based, ep2-capable terminals, such as the Newland U200 used here, as well as the Pulse hardware extension, which it developed and distributes itself.
For Abrantix, the project at Rogrotech in Münchenbuchsee shows how its own terminal platform can be tailored to the needs of an industry partner. Instead of a standard solution, Pulse became a purpose-built extension, precisely matched to work with PLURex 2.0 while giving the operator maximum flexibility.
Following the successful pilot in Münchenbuchsee, the plan is to equip further PLURex car washes with Pulse and the Abrantix terminal. Car wash operators who want to switch their existing site to modern, contactless payment simply and without major conversion work can get in touch for a consultation on the terminal and Pulse solution.
